Photographer Kelli Connell explores the psyche of human relationships and our connection to nature and architecture in this two-part exhibition. The title of the exhibition reflects the artist’s commitment to spending time with the people and places she photographs. Together, the exhibitions mark the largest presentation of Connell’s work in Chicago and encourage dialogue about queerness, power structures, shifting ecologies, and complex relationships in the twenty-first century.

The main galleries will feature a tender and emotional sequence of work placing the contemporary artist in dialogue with one of the most innovative American photographers of the 20th Century, Edward Weston. Accompanied by 48 original prints by Weston, Connell presents her 45 photographs in the series *Pictures for Charis*, along with text excerpts by writer Charis Wilson, Weston’s partner of 11 years. For this body of work, Connell revisited the sites of Weston’s iconic black-and-white landscapes and portraits of Charis in California and the West (1934-45) to photograph her longtime partner, artist Betsy Odom. The installation bridges eighty years of ecological and social shifts with a feminist perspective.

The McCormick House gallery presents the latest chapter in Kelli Connell’s ongoing series *Double Life*. In *Double Life*, which the artist began in 2002, Connell explores long-term relationships with others and the self. The digital images document the fictional relationship of two women, both played by collaborator Kiba Jacobson. Connell describes the series as “an honest representation of the fluidity of the self in regards to decisions about intimate relationships, sexuality, gender, family, belief systems and lifestyle options.” EAM commissioned the photographer to respond to the architecture of the house by modernist architect, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for this exhibition. Connell chose to incorporate the site - and inspiration from the poetry from its former owner Isabella Gardner (niece of the Boston aristocrat by the same name) - to generate new works adding to the perpetual *Double Life* narrative.

__About the Artist__

Kelli Connell (B. Oklahoma, 1974) is a photographer based in Chicago. Through her images, she addresses issues of sexuality, identity and self-perception. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, J Paul Getty Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Dallas Museum of Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, among others. Publications include Kelli Connell: Pictures for Charis (Aperture and Center for Creative Photography, March 2024), PhotoWork: Forty Photographers on Process and Practice (Aperture), Photo Art: The New World of Photography (Aperture), and the monograph Kelli Connell: Double Life (DECODE Books). Connell has received fellowships and residencies from The Guggenheim Foundation, MacDowell, PLAYA, Peaked Hill Trust, LATITUDE, Light Work and The Center for Creative Photography.

Living with Modernism: Kelli Connell’s Pictures for Charis and Double Life 

The [Elmhurst Artists' Guild](https://www.elmhurstartistsguild.org/) presents their Spring Members' Show, with featured artist, Annelise Bronsveld, from March 22nd through May 3rd 2026.

The Opening Reception is Friday, March 27th from 7-9 pm and is free and open to the public.

Annelise Bronsveld is an Illinois based artist practicing watercolor. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Judson University in 2017. Annelise became interested in shapes and patterns from a young age where she would make patterns using paint swatches.

In college, Annelise took a watercolor class. Her interest in shapes collided with her newfound love for watercolor painting and the behavior of the medium. She began exploring how to create structure and order from a medium that is unexpected and often difficult to work with. What started out as painting intricate patterns with watercolor, evolved into cutting up her old paintings.

Her practice developed the theme of “Order in the Unexpected” in the realization that her anxieties and fear of the unknown have a direct correlation with watercolor. Since beginning this process in 2016, Annelise has experienced unsteady changes like broken relationships, moving, new jobs, graduating all of which provoked anxiety. When ‘what ifs’, fears, and doubts arise, her practice now provides a rhythm and calm to the anxiety. With every square glued to the page, she is able to make some sense of the chaos and unexpected.

Elmhurst Artists' Guild Gallery: EAG Spring Members' Show

*Crossing Currents- Four Voices of Contemporary Vision* runs February 22nd through March 20th 2026 in th Elmhurst Artists' Guild Gallery and features the work of Fletcher Hayes, Kim Laurel, Julie Mars, and Jeane Kat McGrail. This group exhibition brings together four distinctive contemporary voices whose artistic practices intersect through explorations of form, gesture, structure, and layered narrative. Working across painting, printmaking, collage, mosaic, and digital composite photography, the artists create a dynamic and resonant visual dialogue.  The exhibition investigates a unique expanse in contemporary artistic exploration, illuminating how individual perspectives can collectively shape a textured and compelling creative journey.

Photographer, Audrey Lowe, invites the public to experience her solo exhibition, People, Places & Things, a visual journey through the poetry of life. The exhibit showcases Lowe's signature ability to find grace in the familiar - capturing portraits, urban scenes, and still lifes that speak to memory, presence, and connection.  More than an artistic statement,  People, Places & Things   is a heartfelt tribute. A portion of sales proceeds from the exhibition will benefit glioblastoma research, honoring those affected by this aggressive form of brain cancer and supporting the search for a cure.

The [Elmhurst Artists' Guild](https://www.elmhurstartistsguild.org/ "Elmhurst Artists' Guild") presents their Winter Members' Show, with featured artist, Jeanne Yargicoglu, from November 30th through January 4th 2026. 

Jeanne Yargicoglu received her Degree in fine art from the University of Dallas.
After spending many years working in the world of commercial art as a
Graphic Designer and Art Director, she has finally returned to her fine art roots.
Her work explores abstraction through layered textures, gestural marks, and
subtle botanical forms. She is interested in the tension between control and
spontaneity, creating compositions that feel both constructed and intuitive.
While inspired by elements of the natural world, the paintings are more about
internal landscapes - emotional rhythms, memory and transformation. She works
in mixed media, allowing shapes to emerge organically and evolve through the
process. Traces of florals or organic lines hint at familiarity, but resist definition.

D205 Student Art Show

Artist Jeanette Andrews applies sensory illusion techniques and her interest in the selective nature of attention and the bounds of perception to create artworks that explore magic, multiple realities, and the human psyche. This summer exhibition will present interactive and site specific works including installation, sculpture, video, sound, and performance, alongside new work developed while Artist in Residence at MIT’s Center for Art, Science, and Technology in 2024-25. 

The exhibition represents a return home for Andrews, who grew up in Wheaton, IL. She cites the Elmhurst Art Museum as an early influence in her pursuit to a career honing her technical skills and applying magic and sensory illusion techniques to create artworks. *On Wonder, Mind, & Magic* will be the artist’s first solo museum exhibition and is curated by Liz Chilsen, Manager of Exhibitions & Collections.

__About the Artist__

Jeanette Andrews is a New York-based artist working at the intersections of illusion, performance, installation, film, and audio. Her studio practice bridges the worlds of illusion, installation, and conceptual art, creating interactive vignettes and surreal, multisensory experiences that investigate perception, cognition, and the seemingly impossible. She invites audiences to co-create her illusory performances which function as live thought experiments.  She has presented numerous commissioned works with the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, as well as for the Quebec City Biennial and Boca Raton Museum of Art, presented talks for Cooper Hewitt, Chicago Ideas Week, The British Society of Aesthetics, and universities, including Yale, Columbia, Princeton and Harvard.

She has held residencies with the Institute for Art and Olfaction and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts at the University of Houston, and is a former National Arts Club Artist Fellow and Affiliate of metaLAB at Harvard. She was a 2024-2025 Visiting Artist for the Center for Art, Science and Technology at MIT and the current visiting artist for the Arts Institute at Brown University. Her work has been featured in the Boston Globe, PBS, Chicago Tribune and New York Times.

On Wonder, Mind, & Magic: Jeanette Andrews

Near Eternity is a site-responsive exhibition unfolding across the McCormick House and the 
surrounding grounds of Wilder Park at the Elmhurst Art Museum. Through a series of sculptures, 
the artist considers the lifespans and fragilities of designed systems—biological, architectural, capital, and digital—asking how permanence and decay are mediated by natural and technological infrastructures. Together with threads of 3D scanning and sculptural translation of works from the museum’s collection, these references draw out parallels between botanical resilience, the myth of architectural immortality, and the digital networks that underwrite contemporary life.

The sculptures are created through a hybrid process combining 3D scanning, digital printing, casting, and hand sculpting to materialize the interplay of organic forms and manufactured objects. Between three and five sculptures will be installed within the domestic modernist interior of the McCormick House to produce a site-responsive “re-interior” that accentuates the structure’s vulnerabilities—aging materials, entropy, and the persistence of technological obsolescence. Outdoors, three companion works operate as public statuary that embed themes of reproduction and the information age into forms typically associated with civic permanence (the public monument), extending the exhibition’s inquiry into the landscape of Wilder Park.

Using sculpture as a tool to examine design and the larger systems in which objects circulate, the artist borrows familiar forms such as the Barcelona Chair, the Eames splint, standing desks, and children’s IKEA chairs. He disrupts/renders visibly haptic—pitted with fingerprints that polka dot the form with texture. In their altered states, these icons of modern design become part of a digital–analog matrix, collapsing distinctions between furniture, sculpture, artifact, and interior architecture. Near Eternity ultimately proposes sculpture as a method for re-sensing designed environments, revealing how endurance and obsolescence are co-produced across bodies, buildings, and networks.

__About the Artist__

Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford is a visual artist and assistant professor of sculpture at Indiana University Northwest. The sculptor primarily makes work to address themes of reproduction, value and digital culture with humor.  He is also a co-director and co-founder of the collective Floating Museum, which curated the 2023 Chicago Architecture Biennial and has created international public installations. His work has been shown at the Art Institute of Chicago, Malmo Konstmuseum, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, American Academy of Arts and Letters, The UCSD Art Gallery, and The Hyde Park Art Center, among other spaces. 

Over the course of his 20 year art practice, he has held fellowships at the Sculpture Space, the MacDowell Colony, Vermont Studio Center, the Brown Foundation Program at the Dora Maar House, and the Skowhegan School of Sculpture and Painting. His work has been supported by grants from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, the Harpo Foundation, the Propeller Fund, the Chauncey and Marion Deering McCormick Foundation, an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship, and a Fulbright Fellowship in Sicily.  Reviews of his work have been included in outlets like Sculpture Magazine, Hyperallergic, Artforum, and the Chicago Tribune.

Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford: Near Eternity

*I am convinced that if we are to get on the right side of the world revolution, we as a nation must undergo a radical revolution of values.*

In the May 1967 issue of Ramparts Magazine, Martin Luther King, Jr. published a condensed version of his searing “Beyond Vietnam” speech under the title "Declaration of Independence from the War in Vietnam." In it he named militarism, materialism, and racism as the “giant triplets” threatening American democracy and called for a “revolution of values.” 

Just days later, Dr. King led a march to the United Nations during which, for the first time, a group of Vietnam veterans marched under a banner declaring Vietnam Veterans Against the War. This public act of defiance marked the birth of one of the most radical anti-war organizations in US history, demonstrating that those trained for war could become some of its fiercest opponents. 

*A Revolution of Values* traces this lineage of resistance through the work of veteran artists who have turned away from militarism and toward solidarity. The exhibition includes ceramics, sculpture, papermaking, printmaking, photography, poetry and other forms that show the range of ways veteran artists examine their military experiences and critique militarism across generations.

*A Revolution of Values* claims and centers this lineage of resistance to celebrate the way veteran artists turn from militarism towards solidarity, exemplifying the “revolution of values” Dr. King called for.  The exhibition highlights the vast array of creative processes veteran artists use across generations to express this radical turn.

*A Revolution of Values* is one of the four featured exhibitions of the 2026 Veteran Art Triennial, RESISTING THE LONG WAR curated by Aaron Hughes, Mohamed Mehdi, and Amber Zora. The Triennial highlights artists’ creative defiance to war and militarism. The featured artworks lift up overlapping legacies of war resistance, presenting alternative visions of peace, healing, and justice generated by diverse communities impacted by war. 

Additional featured exhibitions will be at the Chicago Cultural Center, Hyde Park Art Center, and Walls Turned Sideway. Exhibition receptions will take place during the Veteran Art Summit November 5-8, 2026.
