Join us for the closing weekend of *Living With Modernism*.  As a special treat, acclaimed photographer Kelli Connell will be in the galleries offering spontaneous tours and conversation with visitors.

__Kelli Connell__ (b. 1974) is a photographer based in Chicago. Through her images, she addresses issues of sexuality, identity, and self-perception. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, J Paul Getty Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Dallas Museum of Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, among others. Publications include Kelli Connell: Pictures for Charis (Aperture and Center for Creative Photography, March 2024), PhotoWork: Forty Photographers on Process and Practice (Aperture), Photo Art: The New World of Photography (Aperture), and the monograph Kelli Connell: Double Life (DECODE Books). Connell has received fellowships and residencies from The Guggenheim Foundation, MacDowell, PLAYA, Peaked Hill Trust, LATITUDE, Light Work, and The Center for Creative Photography.

6:00 - 6:30pm Museum opens to participants for exhibition viewing 

6:30 - 8:30pm Poetry workshop led by Dr. Ann Frank Wake, professor of English at Elmhurst University

Isabella Gardner, renowned poet and one-time editor at Poetry Magazine, wrote numerous poems while she lived in the McCormick House. During National Poetry Month, join us for an evening in “Isabella’s house” to enjoy a reading of Gardner’s poetry and write your own poem inspired by her work. 

$25 for Non-Members / $15 for Members.

Through hands-on experiences and exposure to working artists and art careers, participants don’t just learn about art, they create it, share it, and lead with it.

Together, we’re building a space where teens can:

__Lead__ by shaping a final showcase of their vision

In 2026, what should monuments be made of—and what should they be about? In this participatory drawing and collage workshop, we’ll explore the kinds of images, stories, and materials that shape our attention today, both online and IRL. What content do we return to again and again? Which memes circulate endlessly, and which moments or ideas actually stick in our long-term memory? Together we’ll consider what themes—social, cultural, personal, or political—feel urgent enough to be made visible in public space. Join exhibiting artist Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford for a hands-on mixed-media session that uses drawing and collage as tools to collectively imagine and remix new forms of monuments for the future.

This event is made possible through a grant from the JCS Arts, Health and Education Fund of DuPage Foundation.

Sima Cunningham, Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine, and Mariachi Cuatro Vientos will perform sets inspired by the Museum’s summer exhibitions. Guests will enjoy drinks, light bites, and admission to the Museum’s galleries.
