K-12 Teachers and Administrators are invited to an Educator’s Night at the Elmhurst Art Museum.

At this free event, educators will enjoy a tour of the current exhibition and a preview of the exhibitions that will be on view for school field trips in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Learn about how to arrange a field trip to EAM with your students (some school groups visit for free!) and how our upcoming exhibitions connect to content you are teaching in class. Also, be among the first to learn about our new teen program launching this fall!

**About the McCormick House**

The McCormick House is a single-family home designed in 1952 by Mies van der Rohe, one of the great architects of the 20th Century. It is one of only three free-standing residences designed and built by Mies in the United States--and one of only two open to the public.

In 2026, what should monuments be made of—and what should they be about? In this participatory drawing and collage workshop, we’ll explore the kinds of images, stories, and materials that shape our attention today, both online and IRL. What content do we return to again and again? Which memes circulate endlessly, and which moments or ideas actually stick in our long-term memory? Together we’ll consider what themes—social, cultural, personal, or political—feel urgent enough to be made visible in public space. Join exhibiting artist Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford for a hands-on mixed-media session that uses drawing and collage as tools to collectively imagine and remix new forms of monuments for the future.

This event is made possible through a grant from the JCS Arts, Health and Education Fund of DuPage Foundation.

Opening Reception for Resisting the Long War: A Revolution of Values 

Join us for exhibition tour of *Resisting the Long War: A Revolution of Values* led by Curator and Iraq War veteran, Aaron Hughes. 

Aaron Hughes is an artist, curator, and anti-war veteran. Working through an interdisciplinary practice rooted in drawing and printmaking, Hughes works collaboratively to create meaning out of personal and collective trauma, transform systems of oppression, and seek liberation. He develops projects that utilize popular research strategies, experiment with forms of direct democracy, and operate in solidarity with the people most impacted by structural violence.

Along with Amber Zora and Mohamad Mehdi, he is co-curator of the Veteran’s Art Triennial

Hughes works with a range of art and activist groups including Justseeds Artists' Cooperative, About Face: Veterans Against the War, emerging Veteran Art Movement, and Prison + Neighborhood Arts/Education Project.

Hughes lives and works in Chicago.
