Ken Reif: Renewable Energy
Oct 13th–Nov 8th 2019The solo show by Artists’ Guild member Ken Reif will include paintings and live painting.
In honor of Arts Dupage Month, Reif will be converting a small area of the gallery into his working studio and sharing his practice with the public. Come by and meet the artist at any time. Experience live painting or even join in to paint alongside him, as he creates several new works onsite in the gallery.
Reif considers his work contemporary impressionism and describes his paintings as “renewable energy”. He explains our spirit becomes renewed with each viewing and takes it as a compliment when his work evokes emotion. To create his works, Reif uses an impressionist palette painted on a black background to create depth and reflect his love and respect for nature. According to Reif, “Art is energy. We feel this energy not by touch, but with our eyes.”
Reif was born in Chicago and currently works in his Berwyn studio. He attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and Columbia College. He is a member of several local art leagues and served as a board member and president of The Oak Park Art League.
